Fertility treatment is not complicated because the medicine is complicated. It is complicated because nobody explains it in order, in plain words, before it happens to you. That is the part we have tried to fix.
Everything on this website is written for the person having the treatment, not for a referring doctor. If something here is unclear, that is our error and we would like to know about it.
About six to eight weeks from the first consultation to a result. Click any stage to see what happens, how long it takes, and what is actually asked of you.
Every word you are likely to hear in a consultation, written the way we would explain it to a friend. Start typing to find one.
Nothing matches that. Phone us and ask — it is a reasonable question and we will add it here.
A full breakdown, published before you walk in. Medication is quoted separately because the dose depends on your body, and we will not pretend otherwise.
Most South African schemes do not fund IVF itself. Several do cover parts of the investigation — the initial consultation, baseline bloods, ultrasound and semen analysis — from your savings or a specialist benefit.
We submit those claims for you and tell you what came back, rather than leaving you to work it out from a statement three weeks later.
Genetic testing of embryos, donor eggs or sperm, surrogacy, and any additional frozen transfer are all separate. Each is quoted in writing before you decide, and none of them is added to your account without you agreeing first.
These are the questions people are most afraid to ask out loud, so we have answered them here instead of waiting to be asked.
Most people need more than one cycle. That is the ordinary case, not a failure, and it does not mean the next one will go the same way.
You will get a follow-up appointment within two weeks, at no charge, where your doctor goes through what the cycle actually showed and what would change next time. Nobody is asked to make a decision on the day of a negative result.
You get one nurse who stays with you for the whole cycle, by name, on WhatsApp, answering between 07:00 and 19:00 on weekdays.
Injection questions, a scan you did not understand, a symptom at nine at night — these are what she is there for. You are not bothering anyone.
Two sessions with a psychologist who works only with fertility patients are included in the cost of a cycle, whatever the outcome. Booking one is not a sign that anything is wrong.
Partners are welcome, separately or together.
Your realistic chance, for your age and your test results, in numbers, at the first consultation. Not the clinic's overall success rate, which describes other people.
If we think treatment is unlikely to work for you, we will say so, and we will say it before you have spent anything.
